Assignments app good for
I find this to be a superior application to iprocrastinate. (except for the color coding of classes) I like how it shows in the desktop how many Assignments you have due that day. iprocrastinate does not. I like everything about this app because of its simplicity and ease of use.
Being a University student, I understand the importance of keeping track of your school-related chores, Assignments, and tasks. It is no easy task, particularly in this day in age when it is so easy to lose a piece of paper that tells you need to do. iCal is great for remembering birthdays, but it does not scream at you that you have a major thesis due in two months, and your draft is due NEXT WEEK.
Being a cheap-scape that just paid $400 total for my new iPhone, I didnt want to pay anything. So, I downloaded iProcrastinate. However, the program was very confusing to the point that it gave me a head ache; if I wanted a headache, Id study more for my classes than I already do. Since our professors are out to give us as much work as possible, we require a program that gives as little as possible to keep track of our school related work.
This program definitely keeps track of it. It is clean, sleek, and doesnt clutter up its display. The only thing Id change is a colour-coding system that iProcrastinate had, so I can glance in the Overview for what is due for my Japanese 3 class, versus my C++.
This program is recommended for the price.
This app does exactly what its supposed to, keep track of all your classes and Assignments in a very efficient and elegant way. A must have.
This is going to work really well for school. I love this app already! Ive been told that it will soon support emailing the list and then printing it which will only make it better!
Ive used both Assignments and IProcrastinate and there are plusses to both. The "due soon" is very nice with Assignments, but there is a bug in the alert (but they say they are going to fix it). IProcrastinate you get to color code your classes, but Assignments lets you voice record notes for yourself. Assignments needs to be able to add a way to write the professors name under the class, the ending times of classes, group member names, steps of a project (like IProcrastinate) and a few other upgrades. Overall it is a good application, they just need to have a few things to make it amazing.
Great program so far but it has a lot of room for welcomed expansion.
I am about to start the semester and some things that I am finding would be useful are the following:
1. Class Details Section Improvements
- Add Field for professor name, and contact info.
- Add Field for professors office hours
- Add Field for class room building location
- Add A Week Calendar so we know what class is next as arranged by the classes input
Just some much wanted ideas. Great so far. Love the new clean UI
Some bad moments
If you have MobileMe, you really dont need this. I had to wipe my iPhone 3G and lost all of my Assignments, however when I connected to MobileMe, my calender and events were on my iPhone instantly, my other assignment stuff was gone :(
Its disappointing that this app is so clunky and nonintuitive. Here are some examples:
The add-assignment button is a tiny icon in the upper right hand corner that requires accuracy to click.
You have to add a time-of-day for the due date, or a seemingly random one will be assigned (which of course you will be inclined to correct, which takes more time). If you choose the due date and class, isnt the due time obvious? Cant it at least default to the class time?
The "class" field doesnt default to anything, and if the correct one is already selected, you have to scroll away from it and then back to it to select it.
Theres not way to quickly add a list of Assignments due for a particular class. You have to enter all the above details each time. (select class = 3-4 clicks, fix time of day = 3-4 clicks)
If you select an importance ranking, you can change it but not remove it (you have to delete the whole task to remove it)
Lots of unnecessary steps. I shouldnt have to hit "edit" to edit a field. Touching the field does nothing unless you hit Edit first.
More non-intuitiveness: Guess which page you go to to add an assignment: Overview, Assignments, Notes, or Classes? If you said Assignments youre going to be frustrated, too.
I miss my 6 bucks.
This program does have some nice features, yes, but it is too buggy to even work right. For me, when I enter an assignment, I literally waste time because when I click "done", the assignment has no data!! Then I have to re enter everything again, hoping that it "sticks".
Waste of $3... The app deleted my classes at first and now it deletes all of my Assignments... It crashed A LOT as well... The app just seems extremely buggy to me. Pass on this until it gets fixed.
I read the reviews on here, and like a lot of us in here, I decided to try it out anyway because there were so many good reviews to offset the bad. Dont bother. When you enter any details about an assignment, it forgets it right away...every #@&% time! It crashes, on average, about once every 2 Assignments. Not even kidding. I got to where Id just go through my notebooks again to figure out what I had due because it was too much of a pain to deal with this app. I finally searched out another app and found Homework to be a whole lot better. You can view by days, weeks, months, or by class and it doesnt crash unlike Assignments where your choices are: next 3 days, by class, or a long list sorted in the order in which you entered them into the app. It just has too many bugs that will take too many updates to fix and at the rate these updates are coming out, Ill be out of college before this app is useful.
I had high hopes for this app, but wait until a later update, it is watching too buggy! It crashes and freezes the phone. Hope the fix it or I will delete it! I wonder if I can get a refund, please fix this app developers...
